Title: Director of Engineering
CLIENT:
Client company is a diversified, publicly held multi-national provider of highly engineered products and services for high performance platforms. The corporation, with headquarters in the Northeast, provides products and services to a number of global markets, such as defense, commercial aerospace, nuclear power generation, oil and gas, automotive and general industrial markets. Operations are conducted through 33 manufacturing facilities, 56 metal treatment service facilities and 2 aerospace component and overhaul and repair locations.
Dramatic growth through acquisition and continued internal product development efforts
have helped to make this company a formidable competitor.
***Part of the Motion Control segment, located in the Southeast, generates sales of approximately 90 million dollars and employs 300 people. They design, develop and manufacture electro-mechanical, hydro-mechanical specialty components and subsystems designed for commercial and military aircraft. Products are marketed globally utilizing a direct sales force.
POSITION:
Reporting to the Vice President, General Manager for one of the Motion Control segments, this proactive leader will oversee all aspects of the entire engineering program (approx 55) ie; proposing, project management, designing, developing, testing and certifying specialty motion control components and sub-systems. Ensure all projects are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate design efforts with the other groups within the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibility will be setting and auditing of design schedules to ensure objectives are met on a timely basis and within established budgets. Through his/her managers, evaluate the performance of the department’s personnel and maintain a competent staff. Administer company policies and procedures while maintaining positive employer/employee relations. Effectively mentor and guide direct reports to perform as an integral part of team, but further develop their capability of leading corresponding departments in the absence of the Director.
Through teamwork, build strong, long term partnerships with suppliers and customers both internal and external on a global basis.
In conjunction with company philosophy and objective, implement an engineering vision and strategy that will be effective in building a first class engineering organization.
