Title: Engineering Manager
CLIENT:
Client company is a diversified, publicly held multi-national provider of highly engineered products and services for high performance platforms. The corporation, with headquarters in the Northeast, provides products and services to a number of global markets, such as defense, commercial aerospace, nuclear power generation, oil and gas, automotive and general industrial markets. Operations are conducted through 33 manufacturing facilities, 56 metal treatment service facilities and 2 aerospace component overhaul and repair locations. Dramatic growth through acquisition and continued internal product development efforts have helped to make this company a formidable competitor for the future. ***The Flight Systems Division, located in the Southeast, generates sales of approximately $90 million dollars and employs 300 people. They design, develop and manufacture electro-mechanical, hydro-mechanical specialty components and systems designed for commercial and military aircraft. Products are marketed globally utilizing a direct sales force.
POSITION:
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this proactive leader will oversee all aspects of the product design engineering group(12-15) involving the supervision of design personnel and planning required to facilitate the delivery of a complete design package(analysis & drawings) and maintenance of current designs. Also responsible for ensuring basic design work is completed. Coordinate design efforts with the other groups within the organization.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Primary responsibility will be setting and auditing of design schedules to ensure objectives are met on a timely basis and within established budgets. Responsible for the overall workflow through design group and the effective implementation of design standards. Perform conceptual and detailed mechanical and/or electronics design to include design trade studies.
Establish with departmental staff, scope of design tasks and insure consistency in design practice between programs. Perform load and stress calculations for sizing components and parts. Create preliminary components and layouts and provide technical guidance where needed. Effectively train and guide staff in job performance either directly or through subordinates. Through teamwork, build strong, long term partnerships with suppliers and customers both internal and external.
