Title: Vice President, Procurement
CLIENT:
Our client is a leading manufacturer of high quality electronic systems for the consumer, professional and the OEM markets. It has grown significantly through acquisitions with the goal in mind to give the customer a single point of contact. To meet this objective they acquired companies for their operational and product excellence and pulled all of their ERP information together into a single database. This centralization enables them to capitalize on new markets, reduce operational overhead, enjoy substantial cash savings and become a world-class contemporary business. Their greater visibility allows them to cross-sell to customers due to their unique understanding of their companies purchasing patterns.
POSITION:
Reporting to the Divisional President, this individual is responsible for the development, implementation, management and control of the procurement strategy. This key position will develop and direct all strategic areas, coordinate new programs and supplier development. He/She will be responsible for finished goods purchase of approximately $100M and raw material of $200M. The new VP, Procurement will work directly with manufacturing VP’s at all facilities as well as other procurement executives at the company’s divisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify suppliers in low cost countries to target for supplier development needs and coordinate timing schedule.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities for current and future production components. Provide leadership in the prioritization of cost reduction opportunities. Provide status reports as required by executive management on cost reduction and component development projects.
- Identify quality improvement opportunities for current and future production components. Provide leadership in the prioritization of quality improvements.
- Lead the implementation of supplier change initiatives.
- Provide organizational direction in response to changing market and supplier conditions.
- Manage component development timing for critical components. Review supplier timing plans. Identify scheduling issues affecting supplier compliance to timing requirements. In conjunction with Program Management and Supplier Engineering, identify alternative/contingency action plans.
- Identify supplier changes, cost reduction and component development issues as early as possible, and drive resolution at the team level. If resolution requires management intervention, escalate to appropriate executive personnel with proposed alternatives.
- Investigate new technologies and/or suppliers for future applications.
- Review selected suppliers and quotes, and participate, as necessary, in supplier reviews/selection as appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Prefer engineering education.
- Fifteen or more years of related experience in procurement including international experience, particularly in Asia
- Ability to learn and apply complex theories and concepts
- Experience in recognizing trends that impact overall operations
- Capable of communicating the vision throughout the organization
- Display aptitude for goal setting and Leadership
- Skilled in forming teams, recognizing opportunities and identifying strengths and weaknesses
- Possess extensive working knowledge of related business

COMPENSATION:
- Compensation package in $300,000.00 range to include salary and performance based bonus program
