Title: Vice President Sales and Marketing, Diagnostics, North America
CLIENT:
Our client, a $500 million global technology business, markets, manufactures
and distributes scientific analytical instrumentation and is a division of a world leader in the practical application of advanced technologies. It’s separate business units focus on related products for the life sciences and make the world safer, healthier and more productive. They have launched a new Point of Care, molecular diagnostics business and are searching for a technology leader to drive early growth in North America.
This revolutionary new instrument platform enables Medical Practitioners and Veterinarians to process and interpret a variety of samples in a single assay with a great deal of technical superiority. It’s accurate, ruggedized and intelligent. In the near future, this Point of Care methodology will be used by ICU’s for infectious disease investigation where time is of the essence. The benefits offered by this newly developed, clinical diagnostics strategy is so innovative that it will render current methods obsolete.
POSITION:
Reporting to the Group GM, the VP Sales and Marketing will be expected to use his/her industry experience and technology knowledge to develop new business in veterinary and clinical diagnostics, identify and pursue opportunities for Government funding and early dates and convert these into orders. The individual will work with Government Relations consultants to develop requirements in animal and human disease screening programs, capture customer requirements and provide guidance to the Research and Development Group and Program Managers. HE/She will drive forward a newly developed clinical diagnostics strategy, develop relations with laboratories and medical practitioners and seek early adopters of a unique Point of Care diagnostic system. The individual will also provide technical support to teams in other parts of the business responsible for selling the same technology to customers in the Military and Emergency Response area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate market research and size markets including consolidation of market requirements, develop sales targets with sector teams and site operations and provide forecast through the sales operations planning process.
- Create and maintain business case and submission of business plans for approval.
- Position the product for all markets and all buyers.
- Provide high-level market and cross-product requirements.
- Conduct on-going market research and competitive assessments including capabilities, pricing and performance versus market needs.
- Develop and support external collaborations.
- Participate in Research and Development project reviews to ensure technologies continue to meet market needs, act as the voice of the customer to R&D.
- Lead the development of an overall road map of the bio products portfolio.
- Act as the voice of the customer within the organization for Sales and Marketing and Customer Support.
- Prepare user requirement specifications for new instruments and assays.
- Create a customer training and support program for diagnostic products.
- Create route to market – acquisitions strategic marketing.
- Manage global teams.
- Prepare business plans and act as business plan champion.
- Comply with all applicable U.S. export control and security regulations.
- Comply with and ensure department compliance with company health, safety and environmental policies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous strategic planning experience.
- Knowledge of FDA & IVD approval process.
- Knowledge of business plan dynamics and proven business plan champion
- Direct experience in either the diagnostics (preferred) or pharmaceutical market.
- Prior experience leading global teams.
- Ability to create route to market – acquisitions strategic marketing.
- Knowledge of CE marking for European IVD market, a plus.
- Prior acquisition experiences, a plus.
- Contracts negotiation, IP protection and expanding a business experience, a plus.
- Ability to work internationally / Ability to travel required
EDUCATION:
- MBA or Masters in Health field or a Ph.D with a minimum of 10 years post-doctoral experience in a relevant industry/commercial environment (pharmaceutical, diagnostics, research products and biosensors)

COMPENSATION:
- Salary range 150,000.00-175,000.00
- Bonus; Approximately, 30% potential
