CLIENT:
The client corporation is a leading global power company. The company participates primarily in four lines of business: contract generation, competitive supply, large utilities and growth distribution. The contract generation business consists of multiple power generation facilities that sell electricity directly to wholesale customers in competitive markets. The company's large utility business is comprised of utilities located in the United States and South America. Its growth distribution line of business includes distribution facilities located in developing countries and regions where the demand for electricity is expected to grow significantly.
POSITION:
As a key member of this "Internal Audit Task Force" the charter will be to act as a key facilitator for compliance relating to processes and controls. Knowledge of Sarbanes with particular consideration for Section 404 (Management Assessment of Internal Controls) is essential. Duties will vary according to one's role. They range from business risk assessment, identification of profit improvement opportunities, description of key business processes, re-engineering recommendations, fraud investigation and operational performance assessments. The Audit team is currently divided into North America, Latin America and ROW. The new team will facilitate a paradigm shift to a horizontally risk based process driven effort. Each team member is going to have worldwide responsibility.
They will provide value added commentary to improve the reporting structure and performance. The team will be structured around Regulatory Risk, Process Risk (operational performance) and Transaction Risk (performance against contracts). The team will be designed along 5 channels, i.e., Compliance, Operational Audit, Contract, Forensic and IT/Treasury/Finance Channels. Projects will consider all of these risk issues while developing and implementing mission critical audits. In brief, processes have to be defined and controls must be implemented.
The general mission will be to provide assurance to the Board, the Executive Staff and the Operating Management Group. It is going to be a risk based, process focused audit organization.

REQUIREMENTS:

- 10+ years World Class experience.
- Known stature in the Internal Audit Profession.
- Preferably has worked for Fortune 50 corporation.
